“Stroll, Don’t Run” is an instrumental composition written and initially recorded by jazz guitarist Johnny Smith in 1954.
It was later tailored and re-recorded by Chet Atkins in 1956, and was a monitor on the LP Hello-Fi In Focus. This association was the inspiration for the model by The Ventures in 1960 (although the Ventures’ association is recognizably completely different from Atkins’ finger-picked model) which achieved world-wide recognition, being regarded by Rolling Stone journal as one of many prime 100 Biggest Guitar Songs of All Time.
